Breton Cassette is happy to release cassette publication 028

«En trøstes honningkage for min høibedrøved’ sjel» by Emilie de Rohan Birkeland

Most of us could use a resurrection from time to time. «En trøstes honningkage for min høibedrøved’ sjel» is a gathering of Norwegian folk tunes, moonsongs, and words from Thomas Kingos baroque psalms. Thomas Kingo’s (1634-1703) work is saturated with a misery full of exclamation points and dark skies. But as is often the case, the sun eventually breaks though the coal black clouds.

Emilie de Rohan Birkeland is an artist, working with drawing and video in an associative way. Educated at Oslo National Academy of the Arts and the Folk Music Academy in Rauland, she is also one of the artists behind the exhibition space Destiny’s in Oslo.
