about

Breton Cassette is proud to present the last release in 2021

A by Ida Mårdhed

Ida C. Mårdhed (b. 1986, SE) works in mixed media with an emphasis on audiovisual and performative work. She thrives in an open landscape between social realism and magic. In this work, she has created a wordless narrative that tells a story in a non-linear chronology.

I believe I use a lot of post-constructions. That I let them explain what I mean (now), what I think that I thought (then) and what I believe that I want (later).
During this process of A (which consists of a collection, for this context unawarely intentional, recordings) I found some papers, notes, from when I was ten (years old). They were filled with texts in mirrored writing, describing this project so well -------- who MISS MOTH is ---------- by far, so much better than I could ever do, here and today:

This is my secret writing for the future to come(!!) as true as my name is Ida Christina Mårdhed!!! (…) I would love to be able to write like this with someone. So that I could write with someone. Because it's not fun having a secret writing to yourself.*

*direct translation from mirror writing

A is MISS MOTH´'s first album; fiery, dark, noisy, distorted — oo — melancholic and melodic
When I first listened to the work A, I thought of an interview I read a while back, with the Norwegian author Liv Køltzow. She mentioned something that was both beautiful and as I see it true; Melancholy and rage may seem to come from two very different emotions, actually come from the same. One and the same; but given different directions.
A big thank you to Ida- for collaboration and trust

A av Ida Mårdhed
