Breton Cassette is pleased to present Sprik by visual artist Kirsti Willemse. Sprik is a collection of poems, read one after the other, in a steady stream, something to fall in and out of.

The poems have an ease and a weight, a fervor and a seriousness. They are based on personal experiences around being an artist and becoming a mother. Something collides, something is put on hold, something else finds its place and is transformed. The drive to get closer to the transitions between the motifs and the materials can be read as a parallel narrative.

Kirsti works in a multi-part process with text, installation and performance where the tapestry acts as a tool to make the metaphors more material.

A big thanks to Kirsti, so glad for this release!

Breton Cassette har gleden av å presentere diktsamlingen Sprik av billedkunstner Kirsti Willemse. Sprik er en opplesning, en samling av dikt, lest etter hverandre, i en jevn strøm, noe og falle inn i og ut av.

Diktene innehar en letthet og en tyngde, en inderlighet og et alvor. De tar utgangspunkt i personlige erfaringer rundt det å være kunstner og bli mor. Noe kolliderer, noe settes på vent, noe annet finner sin plass og transformeres. Drivet etter å komme nærmere overgangene mellom motivene og materialene kan leses som en parallell fortelling.

Kirsti jobber i en flerdelt prosess med tekst, installasjon og performance der billedveven fungerer som redskap for å gjøre metaforene mer stofflige.
