Breton Cassette is happy to announce TVILSOMT VENNSKAP av BOTEX

Botex is Timon Botez (b. 1973) a Norwegian-Romanian artist educated in London. He is currently based in Oslo after many years working in Boston, London and New York.

People's relationship to man-made environments is a recurring theme in Botez’s work. Having spent most of his life in urban settings, he is influenced by the erratic behaviour and incidental interactions that take place around him. Through pseudo-scientific research, Botez explores the underlying behavioural patterns detected in his surroundings.

He's work lies in the intersection of technology and mechanics. He is inspired by the Dadaists’ abstraction of language and letter forms and find parallels to the Futurists noise-oriented approach to making sound.

For the past ten years Botez has been working with sound and sculpture through conceptual compositions and orchestral installations. Like light, sound can be shaped and formed. Botez explores the space in front of a sound source by funneling and projecting the moving air as a way of sculpting audio waves.

Botex er Timon Botez (f. 1973) en norsk-rumensk kunstner utdannet i London. For tiden er han basert i Oslo etter mange år i Boston, London og New York.

Folks forhold til menneskeskapte miljøer er et gjennomgående tema i Botezs arbeid. Etter å ha tilbrakt mesteparten av livet i urbane omgivelser, blir han påvirket av den uberegnelige oppførselen og tilfeldige interaksjoner som finner sted rundt ham. Gjennom pseudovitenskapelig forskning utforsker Botez de underliggende atferdsmønstrene som er oppdaget i omgivelsene.

Hans arbeid ligger i skjæringspunktet mellom teknologi og mekanikk. Han er inspirert av dadaistenes abstraksjon av språk og bokstavformer og finner paralleller til futuristenes støyorienterte tilnærming til å lage lyd.

De siste ti årene har Botez jobbet med lyd og skulptur gjennom konseptuelle komposisjoner og orkesterinstallasjoner. Som lys kan lyd formes og formes. Botez utforsker rommet foran en lydkilde ved å trakte og projisere den bevegelige luften som en måte å forme lydbølger på.
